Lace, Bling & Velvet OH MY!

* Avenue Plus Size Clothing sponsored the clothes but all opinions are mine.*

One of the things I love about fall is the FASHION!!  Needless to say, I was all in when Avenue Plus Size Clothing gave me an invitation to peruse this season’s newest looks.  I was like:

LOL, but since I can’t do that, I narrowed my wish list down to the 4 items featured in this post.

For starters, sweaters are a staple in EVERY woman’s closet because they are so versatile.  A good sweater can be worn so many ways depending on the material, color and overall look you’re going for.  And in case you didn’t know, I’m all for the gaudy and embellished look, so yaaas hunT bring on the sheer and bling!  Both sweaters were rather dressy so heels were definitely the option for me.

Now on to the dresses…I love floor length dresses don’t get me wrong, but I also love to show a lil leg at times too.  It’s all about balance right??  Not to mention, I had just recently purchased some new thigh high boots that desperately needed to be worn (insert laugh) so I seized the moment!

Check out all the looks and let me know in the comments which one you liked best.

Relax, Relate, Release…

Relax, Relate, Release…

Hey beauties and beaus!

So have you ever got into a groove and then wham!!  Err’thing gets shaken up.  I used to be able to adjust to schedule changes quickly and with the ease.  But as of lately, not so much so.  However, I refuse to put myself under undue stress.  Instead I had to take a lesson from Whitley Gilbert and…RELAX RELATE RELEASE!

Over the summer, I had loads of time to workout, plan my meals and binge watch Being Mary Jane, Underground and This is Us (great shows right?!)…but the one thing I did NOT do was rest.  Therefore, when it was time to go back to work, my body was exhausted.  I didn’t realize it until I had to go back to work and my body was like:

Check out my latest video in which I give 5 tips on how to bounce back and stay encouraged!  Also let me know if these tips help in the comments section.  I’d love to hear from you.

Until next time, xx Nij!

What is PURPOSE?

What is PURPOSE?

Hey beauties and beaus, I’m back with another blog and this time I am tackling PURPOSE.  If you have been watching my YouTube videos lately or seen any of my Instagram posts, then you know that purpose is one of my favorite buzz words.  Needless to say, since finally walking in my purpose, my life has NOT been the same.  I can no longer sit by and wait for opportunities to come, rather I am kicking down doors and declaring that I AM HERE!

Why???

I’m glad you asked.

Purpose answers the million dollar question we all long to know…Why am I Here?  I never thought that I would be on the other side of fear talking to you about purpose, but here I am and I know without a shadow of doubt that, I was born to do this!  Every obstacle (and there have been plenty) has brought me to this point in life…and trust me it is a good place.  Therefore, I want to share with you my latest video “Purpose 101”, in which I discuss 4 reasons why walking in your purpose is essential to you and all the lives you encounter.  Please check it out and let me know if and how this video has helped you.  I would love to hear your feedback!

Have a purpose-filled day!

xx, Nijah

NJ Natural Hair & Beauty Expo Recap

Hello hello and hello beauties and beaus!  Today I am sharing all the details about the NJ Natural Hair & Beauty Expo.  If you weren’t there, you really a missed a treat and I’m letting Ms. Kei Reeves know today that I will be in attendance next year.  I’m putting my bid in now uhkay??!!!!  But in all seriousness, it was so much positivity, support and conversation going on in the entire room .  Women, men and even children came out to this event with the intent to network and shop, including me!  And of course the natural hair community represented!

Ms. Adeeah Rogers looked amazing and did a great job as hostess with the “mostest.”  She also served as moderator for the Q & A panel and it was a very good discussion.  Check out my YouTube vlog for snippets of the conversations, plus me chatting it up with some of the vendors.

Lastly, have you ever attended an event and just knew that you were meant to be there?  Well that’s how I felt.  Needless to to say this was both time and money well spent.  Well wishes to all the vendors!  I wish them much success in their businesses and I am reminded that it’s time to take my business to the next level.  God gave so many ideas and I learned some nuggets so it’s definitely time to hit the ground running…who knows I may attend next year as a vendor??  We shall see, xx Nij

Don't settle for less…if you want more

Don't settle for less…if you want more

Hey peeps, so I spent yesterday’s snow day catching up on the best show ever – “This is Us.”  Please tell me you watch it??

Well, I was on episode 10 when Sloane and Kevin were having a discussion on their “status.”  It went a little something like this: Sloane nervously asked Kevin, “What are we doing…I mean are we just sleeping together because if so that’s totally fine.”  Kevin, obviously frazzled by the question responds, “Here’s the thing.  I like you…a lot.  You’re funny, you’re brilliant and I like sleeping with you.  I don’t know what we are.  I’m just happy there’s a we to talk about.”

Now did he answer the question?  Because if he did then I missed it.  It goes back to the point I made in my last video, “I’m Single…and I’m Selective Too”  about listening intently to what is said versus what you want to hear.

20170315_173135

Although this is television, this is some people’s reality and when I heard it my heart just sank…because I’ve been there.  I knew I deserved better and wanted more but was willing to take what I could get because there was a “we.”  For goodness sake, I didn’t want to be that single friend who’s shoulder everybody cried on.  I wanted to trade stories about my boo during girl chat…but the turmoil wasn’t worth it – and it still ain’t.

Precious dear hearts, as the title states, “Don’t settle for less…if you want more.”  If it’s marriage you desire, then you have to carry yourself as such, not compromise nor give mixed signals.  Guys may not like it, but one thing’s for certain – THEY WILL RESPECT YOU.

Until next time…xx Nij <3
