Blue for the Belle

Blue for the Belle

Anyone who knows me, knows that I looooove dresses.  Ok there, my secret is out!  So it’s no surprise that this beauty is in my closet.  For starters, electric blue is one of my favorite shades.  It’s so regal in my opinion.  Next, the length is perfect.  Because I have long legs, some times the dresses just aren’t long enough to even reach mid thigh, but clearly, the Avenue had me in mind. Lastly, the material is polyester/spandex, so ladies it hugs your womanly curves, giving a nice silhouette.

This is the way that I styled the dress: I paired it with my black suede boots and faux leather jacket, which can be worn during the day or at night.  Then I added my silver belt to give it a little pop- which I liked too!  The belted look would be fine for a girl’s night out or even date night.  *wink*  This dress is so versatile that it could also be worn with leggings for another great look!

I am 100% confident that you will turn heads (and get a bunch of compliments ) whichever way you style the Abstract Blue Wave Dolman Dress!

Single on Valentine's Day?

Single on Valentine's Day?

Dear Fabbies (Fabulous + Ladies),

It’s not the end of the world and no there isn’t anything wrong with you.  Until “the one” comes along,

enjoy life, find your purpose and show yourself love.  Besides, I’m learning that being single isn’t a death sentence.  It should be a meaningful time so embrace it.  Ladies, hear ye, hear ye, stop waiting until you get into a relationship to start living life!!!  Do things for yourself, order a table for one, take a vacation, go to the movies and have fun.

I used to be one of those people, who thought here we go again, another Valentine’s Day and still single (womp womp wooomp).  I was so focused on being coupled up that I missed out on so many opportunities.  In this time of singleness, I’m learning so much about me, have taken risks and I’m determined to pursue my passion with all I’ve got.  The man of my dreams will show up, maybe not today or tomorrow, but he will.  *wink*  When this fine fella appears, he will find me having a ball living the single life and will show in words and deeds that he’s the one to change that!

Signed,
Single & Fab…Nijah J

Mesh…Skater…Winter???

Mesh…Skater…Winter???

Hey peeps!  Today I am highlighting this lovely Mesh Cutout Skater Dress by Ashley Stewart.  I managed to get this dress during an online sale they had 2 weeks ago.  When I first saw it, I thought, where in the world would I wear it –  considering the temperatures in New Jersey have been in the teens lately – but, I HAD to have it!  I decided to buy it now and figure out how to style it later.

While I already have my staple Little Black Dress (LBD), I liked the edginess of this one.  This particular skater dress has a good amount of stretch and is very plus size friendly.  It hugs where it needs to hug but also flares out at the waist.  The length is also perfect for us “Long Legged Lucys.” (lol)  In addition, the mesh provides a nice peek-a-boo effect for us daring fashionistas who dare to bare just a tad bit of skin without showing e’rrthang!  Needless to say, this dress can be worn in the winter with tights as I have done, or you can go bare legged in the summer with a pair of pumps.  Either way, you will definitely turn heads in this show stopping LBD!

Isn’t this dress lovely??  I was feelin’ myself just a tad! *wink*
Yes it was cold outside but I was feeling HAWT!!!!!! *z circle snap*

Thanks for reading lovelies…until next time! ~Nijah J~

Cookin' with Nij

Cookin' with Nij

One of my latest goals is to try at least 2 recipes per month, in an effort to add more variety and also expand my growing list of “Fave Things I Like to Cook.”  Besides, eating the same things the same way all the time can get pretty boring.  Also, I want to enjoy my food.  Just because I’m choosing healthier ways to eat, should not mean the food has to lack taste or that I’ll lose my taste buds altogether.  So I headed to Pinterest and boy, there were sooo many recipes and how tos…and surpisingly, it sparked my culinary interest!

The first recipe I tried was chicken related. You can’t go wrong with chicken, lol!  I found this particular recipe on All Recipes.  I did modify it because although the recipe called for (crushed) croutons, I didn’t have those, so I used Panko (bread crumbs) instead.  That is the only difference.  Other than that, I cut and seasoned the strips, then dipped them in butter.  Next, I coated them with a thin layer of Panko and put them in the oven (on a baking sheet) until they were a nice golden brown.  After about 20 minutes, I flipped them over so that the other side could bake to a nice golden crisp as well.

These chicken nuggets were well seasoned and altogether yummy!

For dipping sauce, I used Wish Bone’s Spicy Honey Mustard and voila!!  The chicken nuggets were crunchy on the outside and very tender and well seasoned on the inside.  For my side dish, I had a hearty salad with greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, and raisins.

Well peeps, feel free to join me and swap recipes.  Besides, why buy it when we can learn to make it ourselves!  Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my next Cookin’ with Nij adventure! ~Nijah~

Colour Pop Review

Colour Pop Review

Hey everybody…and yeah I’m a few weeks late but HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!  I hope that 2015 is off to a great start for all of you.  As for me things are great…many new ideas have been birthed, in addition to new opportunities being presented.  As I said in 2014, I am pursuing my passion and I encourage you to do the same!

Now, the purpose of this article is to review 3 new lippies I purchased from Colour Pop.  My decision to try this brand came at the suggestion of my pageant sister Denise (who is a makeup artist so check her out on Instagram @dsimonemua).

Although, I had never heard of this company before, I trusted Denise’s suggestion and ordered 3 matte Lippie Stix in EllarieCreature and Leather.  It helped that I got $5 off for signing up for their promotional emails.  In total, my bill came to $14.99 including shipping and handling.
Having said that, what’s my take?  Well, I absolutely love all of them.  While, some lippies dry your lips out, these not only provided vibrant color, but moisture as well.  In addition, the color stayed on for a long time!
The 1st one, Ellaire was reddish in color, and looks like a deep burgundy.

Creature on the other hand was more of a deep brown.

Lastly, Leather was purplish in color.

While I do have my personal favorite, which one do you guys like best?  Needless to say,  I will definitely purchase more from Colour Pop and also experiment with more colors!  Color lippies really do add a nice pop.  This s coming from a gal who once only wore clear gloss…my how I have grown! 😉
Lastly, if you have ever tried this brand before, I would love to know your experience…and if you haven’t, I hope this post encourages you to give them (or at least a color lippie) a try!  Thanks for reading lovelies! ~Nijah J~
Lunch Bag Blues

Lunch Bag Blues

I don’t know about you but my lunch bags weren’t always the cutest or the most fashionable.  What’s the big deal anyway…all you’re doing is putting your lunch in it right?? *shrugs*

That’s how I felt, until I saw this adorable Betsey Johnson Lunch Tote at Cohoes in Jersey Gardens Mall!  At first I thought it was a makeup case and I thought to myself, hmm that’s cute.  After reading the label “Cargo Lunch Tote,” I instantly fell in love!

The lunch tote is Betsey Johnson’s signature style of gaudy – gold embellished zippers mixed with cheetah prints and flowers.  I can carry the tote as a compact case or let it hang down like a pocketbook to display Ms. Johnson’s name engraved on the straps.  The bag is also insulated and has an extra pocket in the front.  It’s no secret that I love all things gaudy so of course, the tote came home with me for a mere $17 and it put an end to my lunch bag blues!
