Hello hello and hello beauties and beaus! Today I am sharing all the details about the NJ Natural Hair & Beauty Expo. If you weren’t there, you really a missed a treat and I’m letting Ms. Kei Reeves know today that I will be in attendance next year. I’m putting my bid in now uhkay??!!!! But in all seriousness, it was so much positivity, support and conversation going on in the entire room . Women, men and even children came out to this event with the intent to network and shop, including me! And of course the natural hair community represented!
Ms. Adeeah Rogers looked amazing and did a great job as hostess with the “mostest.” She also served as moderator for the Q & A panel and it was a very good discussion. Check out my YouTube vlog for snippets of the conversations, plus me chatting it up with some of the vendors.
Lastly, have you ever attended an event and just knew that you were meant to be there? Well that’s how I felt. Needless to to say this was both time and money well spent. Well wishes to all the vendors! I wish them much success in their businesses and I am reminded that it’s time to take my business to the next level. God gave so many ideas and I learned some nuggets so it’s definitely time to hit the ground running…who knows I may attend next year as a vendor?? We shall see, xx Nij
One lil bitty car selfie aint never hurt nobody! LOL 😉
And yaaaaaaaas Muva Reeves!! She is the New Jersey Hair & Beauty Expo and owner of several businesses including Keiranea and Nae Naturals.

Hello Hello and Hello again to all my Fabulous Ladies aka my FABBIES! It’s been a minute and a lot of happened in these past 3 months, including the launch of my official site! And what better way to celebrate, than with a new blog review.
So the dress I am reviewing today is the Stripe Flounce Maxi Dress. Now maxi dresses are my absolute fave because they’re super cute, they keep you cool in the summer heat and can be dressed up or down depending on occasion…and yall also know that I love a mean shoulder cut out too! Needless to say, this maxi dress gave me all of that and more.
I ordered a size 14/16 and I believe it fit great, I love the length and it turned a lot of heads…so what do you think? Was it a hit or miss? Comment below and let a sista know.
Also if you shop the look today, you can enjoy 50% off! And I know yall love to save a coin just as much as I do.
Hey peeps, so I spent yesterday’s snow day catching up on the best show ever – “This is Us.” Please tell me you watch it??
Well, I was on episode 10 when Sloane and Kevin were having a discussion on their “status.” It went a little something like this: Sloane nervously asked Kevin, “What are we doing…I mean are we just sleeping together because if so that’s totally fine.” Kevin, obviously frazzled by the question responds, “Here’s the thing. I like you…a lot. You’re funny, you’re brilliant and I like sleeping with you. I don’t know what we are. I’m just happy there’s a we to talk about.”
Now did he answer the question? Because if he did then I missed it. It goes back to the point I made in my last video, “I’m Single…and I’m Selective Too” about listening intently to what is said versus what you want to hear.
Although this is television, this is some people’s reality and when I heard it my heart just sank…because I’ve been there. I knew I deserved better and wanted more but was willing to take what I could get because there was a “we.” For goodness sake, I didn’t want to be that single friend who’s shoulder everybody cried on. I wanted to trade stories about my boo during girl chat…but the turmoil wasn’t worth it – and it still ain’t.
Precious dear hearts, as the title states, “Don’t settle for less…if you want more.” If it’s marriage you desire, then you have to carry yourself as such, not compromise nor give mixed signals. Guys may not like it, but one thing’s for certain – THEY WILL RESPECT YOU.
So, this entire week has been bananas!! From the Avenue feature (here) to walking for designer Thomas Lavone at Philly Fashion Week on Saturday.
I’m still amazed that for the 3rd year in a row, Thomas Lavone has asked me to be one of his guest models. For those who don’t know, he was my pageant coach in 2013 and he continues to mentor me since my win. I’m honored that he entrusts me to represent his brand.
I wasn’t able to snap many pics but I managed to get a few while backstage:
Also shout out to Joe Clarke Photography for catching Thomas Lavone’s entire collection. Each piece was amazing…from pant suits with pockets and capes to floor length gowns. Psst, make sure you watch the entire video…there’s a pleasant surprise!
Lastly, check out the hashtags #phillyfashionweek and #pfw17 for more pics and videos.
*Avenue sponsored this look in exchange for a review but the opinions are all mine.*
So let me just say this #LBD was simply love at first sight! While perusing Avenue’s latest styles and selections, I was like hold up wait a minute!!!! I gotta have this sassy black number. Us gals know the importance of having at least 1 little black dress in our closet -and this one right here satisfies that necessity. Between the grommet and lace detail along the sleeves and leg, I screamed yaaaaaaaaaaas as I shimmied into it. A pair of simple black pumps completed the look and voila!
I know I wasn’t the only one semi-obsessed with getting my hands on one of those Ugly Sweaters…which are soooo ridiculously cute by the way. This one in particular definitely makes a personal statement because for some reason just about every picture came out blurry, but you know something… “SNOW WHAT!” 😉
You can purchase the Snow What Penguin Holiday Sweater from Avenue Plus Size Clothing and also browse their entire collection in store on on-line. I am most certain you will find a sweater to fulfill your fashion needs, whether it’s for an office party or Ladies Night with the girls. Happy Shopping! xx, Nij
I absolutely love when active wear meets personal style…and that is exactly what happened this past weekend. This [butter soft, might I add] Spacedye Colorblock Active Wear Jacket and matching Leggings set was just what I needed to window shop and run my errands.
I know you’re thinking, uhh Nij it’s active wear, so where are the after workout flex pix?? The way my mom had me walking all over the mall looking for an iron clad pot definitely counted as cardio today!
The set is made of stretchy cotton, so it’s totally breathable and is available in a Black/White combo and Blue in sizes 14/16-30/32. Did I mention that the ENTIRE SITE is currently 50% off until Tuesday, November 8th??
So be sure to check out the Avenue for your current/future active wear needs…you’ll be glad you did!
Hey FABBIES, so I got my hands on some fab finds from the Avenue and I just had to share. These items are a must have, especially since Spring is officially here – which means we can let go of the jackets and coats…and trade them in for tees, fringe and a little bit of mesh! I have 3 different looks for you today, so let’s bring on the fabulosity!
I love to look cute while getting my sweat on and Avenue’s newest selection is H-O-T!!! The colors are bright, trendy and yaaaas, they also hug our curves. The capri pants and top are both made of spandex, which means they’re breathable so you can bend and stretch with ease. The Ruched Active Tee comes in a variety of colors from Heather Tangerine, Mint to Cobalt. Also, the Heathered Mesh Active Caprees are super soft and are available in black or charcoal.
#2 “Fringed” Benefits
Next up is the Hitachi Knit Cold Shoulder Fringed Top, which I paired with denim shorts, oowwwee! Aint nothing wrong with showing a little leg. It’s sheer and also has a peekaboo effect on the shoulders. This top is versatile so you could also wear it with a pair of crisp linen pants and I’m quite certain, you can rock it as a coverup on the beach too. Can you tell I’m thinking ahead to my summer vacay?? The sunnies are also from the Avenue and can be found here.
#3 L(ittle) W(hite) D(ress)
I’m most certain that we all have a LBD but very rarely do we find a LWD…but guess what, the Avenue came through! I love that it has a lining and it is embellished with sheer sleeves and a print. I wasn’t sure which shoes to wear since it SERVES well with both the silver strappy sandals and black suede pumps. I tried a 14/16 and in my opinion the fit was on point. This dress is appropriate for a day party or for a night out on the town!
So there you have it…my 1st Avenue haul . Which look did you like best? Thanks for stopping by my page and chat soon, xx Nijah J.

With 2015 nearly at its end, many people take this time to reflect on where they are now versus where they were in January. Did you accomplish all the goals that you originally penned to your journal or posted to your vision board? If not, what is your approach in 2016?
I know for me, I entered 2015 with a winning state of mind! There have been some highs, lows, curve balls thrown yet I am still here…and yes, I still have a winning state of mind! This change in mindset has helped me greatly. Firstly, FEAR HAS NO PLACE HERE! Simply put, if I want it, I am going after it. I wholeheartedly believe that as I try, the way will be made. Also, I am determined more than ever to pursue all the Lord has for me. Is it easy? No. Does it require extra of me? Yes. But it’s also predicated on my continued trust in my God because everything I go through WILL work for my good – even the disappointments!
So as we bid adieu to 2015, begin to see yourself beyond where you are right now. Why? Because “IT’S YOUR TIME” as declared by gospel artists Mary Mary in their song, “Go Get It.” It may be rough. You may even been struggling but trust me, it will get better. You just have to believe…now go and get yo blessing…because it’s your time!!
Check out Mary Mary’s inspiring video here:
If you have been encouraged by this post, please like, share and/or comment. Until next time…remember to go get those blessings!
Black is a color that always makes a statement…whether you intend to or not. And when it’s paired with white, the result is something so timeless, so classic and so ritzy.
Today my Fabulous Ladies aka my FABBIES, I am reviewing this Abstract Colorblock Sheath Dress from the Avenue that is all of the above and more. Ladies when I put the dress on it was va va vooooooom! The fit was amazing and it accentuated my curves. What more can a gal ask for? To add a pop of color, I added a pair of powder blue pumps.
Did I mention that this dress is currently 50% off? So, head on over to the site to get one of your own!
6 days agoby iamnijahjOften times people are counted out when measured against someone who may be more popular, someone with a higher status or even based on looks... but that doesn't mean God wants them to do that particular thing - especially if He chose you. Happy Friday!
